本日、6月22日（水）、第26回参議院選挙が公示されました。
7月10日（日）の投票日に向けて、「選挙にまつわる英語表現」を勉強していきましょう。

選挙=election　※elect（投票で誰かを選ぶ）という動詞の名詞形
参議院議員通常選挙
the House of Councillors election, the Upper house election
（※参考:衆議院　Lower House, House of Representatives）

英語表現:7月10日（日）に選挙が行われます。
例）The election will be held on Sunday, July 10.

投票=vote ※動詞なら、投票する。名詞なら票、または投票数。
英語表現:日曜日に両親と私は投票に行きます。
例）My parents and I will go to vote this Sunday.

期日前投票=early（advance）voting, vote before Election Day
英語表現:昨日、私は期日前投票に行きました。
例1）I went early（advance）voting yesterday.
例2）I went to vote before Election Day yesterday.
※今回の選挙の期日前投票期間は、6月23日（木）から7月9日（土）です。
